Piglets

I really like piglets.  I like the way the word "piglet" sounds.

Lately there have been pictures of piglets and dogs in the news.

I still like bacon.

Watch What You Eat

We all know there are things you should not eat. Ever.

(Unless you are trying to cure your syphilis with a sandwich.)

Definitely not a morel mushroom.

Questionable restaurant fare.

Those are self explanatory: sickness or death may ensue.

But are things that you shouldn't eat for a different reason.

(You remember why.)

If you eat these you might go to Hell:

Jesus on a potato chip

Mary and Jesus Cheeto

Praying Jesus Cheeto

Virgin Mary toast

And then there are things that just don't look or sound good to eat:

No thanks.

Maybe you should have that checked.

Mmmmmmmm.

Some things you just might want to eat in private:

Hot. Spicy.

(The yellow ones are always smaller.)

So what's a hungry person to do?

I would recommend sticking with your old friends.

They won't let you down.

But some people are going to eat what they want anyway.

Oh well.

Pooh-melo

This fruit is called a pomelo and it is very delicious.

I first tasted it in Thailand many years ago when we visited some relatives.

It's like a huge grapefruit, but with much thicker skin, firmer sections and a sweeter taste.

You peel it and pull the tough membrane off the sections.

Each section is made up of many crisp and juicy little pieces.

Each little piece is crunchy and filled with juice like a pomegranate kernel except without the hard seed inside to spoil the fun.

It is satisfying to eat in a way like monkeys picking each other's fur.

It gives you a lot to do with your hands.

Just don't eat a whole one all at once.

Super Bowl Sunday 2010

This is a really big day for a lot of people.

I read that it is second only to Thanksgiving in the amount of food consumed at parties.

And speaking of parties, we were invited to two of them this year.

I have to stay home and study for my upcoming boards.

Darn.

My date, however, will go to a party that he attended last year.

Somehow I was busy that day, too.

Don't know how that happened.

So they will watch the game on a big screen TV.

They will have all kinds of tasty snacks and tidbits.

People can get pretty creative with what they serve.

Sputnik wieners, anyone?

There is usually a Super Bowl cake at these parties.

And bean dip.

And a cheese ball, of course.

There will be lots of drinking.

Lots of cigar smoking.

And lots of really loud shouting and cheering.

Since the game does not start until 6:30 PM it will be a late night for my date.  Monday morning could be tough for him.

He will have a great time, though.

So will I.

I hope your favorite team wins!
