My date is going out of town today to go see our nephew play in a football game.
Afterwards he will join his family at a cookout.
I have to stay in town because I am on call.
All of a sudden I have a whole day to myself, marred only by the fact that I might get a call from a patient or a hospital that is something that can't be handled by phone. Then I might actually have to do some work.
And that would be bad because doctors on call don't always respond as quickly as they should.
Anyway, when suddenly presented with nearly 12 hours of solitude I thought of all the things I could do.
Buy a toilet. We need a new one.
Go grocery shopping. We are down to picking the bugs out of the cereal.
Clean house.
Or not.
Pick Chinese lanterns off the plants to dry for colorful fall house decorations.
Go to the library.
Or just lie in bed, reading books and eating Doritos.
